summary

"We want an off-grid single level family home atop a farm hill, with views from the living and master bedroom spaces to the Cook Straight and Marlborough sounds" - This was the short version of the brief when we met our client on a farm hill in Seddon.

This ‘L’ shape home wraps around a central pool with bedrooms, bathrooms and laundry spaces separated from the main living space & master bedroom suite where the owners will primarily spend their lives. Four spacious rooms were created for the overflow of family coming to stay, separated with a split level.

The dwelling is orientated on site to maximise the stunning views and sunlight, with plenty of kodak moments with sunrise and sunsets visible from the the living areas and bedrooms.

The home has been designed with solar and water collection, a modern wood fireplace provide ducted heating to the bedrooms and master-suite, as well as providing heating to the main living space. With large external walls and mechanical ventilation - this throughout the spaces, this home is designed for low energy use.

Residential Renovation
Modal provided excellent early engagement with us on a Wellington house renovation project. They communicated quickly and were very responsive, visiting and patiently talking us through the options and steps.

Commercial Fitout
Modal helped us with a redesign of our office space at Aro, it was an absolute pleasure to work with Modal through this process. They saw our vision right away, to help us enrich our existing space without taking away all the unique characteristics. They were meticulous in the design process and guided us through each step, from proof of concept to adding the finishing touches - inevitably being featured on WellingtonNZs coolest offices blog. I would highly recommend Modal for any project that requires a great deal of creativity, attention to detail, and initiative.
