Michelle Clark

Michelle is the Operations Coordinator at Modal Architecture, bringing a background in software engineering and a talent for finding smarter ways to make things work.

Working across the operational side of the studio, Michelle combines organisation with technical thinking to help improve the systems and processes behind the practice. She has a particular talent for identifying where technology can simplify the way we work, helping us develop more efficient systems across the business.

With a keen eye for automation, Michelle has developed bespoke software and tools specifically around the way Modal operates. These systems take care of many of the mundane and repetitive tasks that would otherwise occupy the team's time, allowing everyone to spend more of their day focused on what they do best: architecture.

It is a skill set that complements the team's constant desire to improve how we work. Rather than accepting that something has to be done the same way simply because it always has been, Michelle is often looking for a better solution, whether that means refining a process, connecting systems or building something entirely new.

Outside work, Michelle loves being active and getting outdoors. She is steadily exploring the hills, coastlines and mountains of New Zealand, from Northland all the way down to Milford Sound, and enjoys discovering the country on foot.

After a good day outdoors, she is also very appreciative of a well made Negroni.

Whether she is exploring a new trail or finding a clever way to automate something behind the scenes, Michelle brings curiosity, problem solving and a practical approach to everything she takes on.
